List of compatible SATA PCB for 2,5" USB drives

In my case it does not match. I have 771754 PCB with a 512kb Rom and 771692-005 works with 256kb Rom.

Who knows which Code is needed to get 512kb PCB (compatible with 771754) ??

771692 is the correct number. You'll just have to find the right revision board which has that size ROM. Try a -005 REV A, I think that's the one I most commonly use.

You can connect to a computer too, as long as you isolate the preamp so only the motor is spinning, then read ROM through terminal. Or just use boot ROM code. Always works for me.

Just a few questions. First off, did you swap out the ROM code? Also, are you sure there isn't a bigger issue with the drive such as failed heads? Also, are you getting a message such as "SED locked" when you try to load the utility?

The boards are compatible. So it must be something else you're missing.

In case anyone is interested, for the past several months I've been using a new method for converting USB to SATA. I organize all my SATA PCBs by CPU numbers (i.e. "9446") and, if applicable, ROM size (i.e. 256/512), PCB shape, and MCU(?) type (either SH or NAUT). I think there are about 20 variations for all WD USB PCBs. Second, I read USB ROM using BootRom so I can instantly see the CPU model. Then I just match any remaining variables (ROM size, PCB shape, MCU). This works 95% of the time. The other 5% that don't work after this typically requires physically moving the ROM chip from original PCB to donor (I wanna say this is just for some 9146 models, but I may be remembering incorrectly).

lcoughey, we didn't see such drives here in support.. Have you tried to solder SATA adapter to see if the drive allows to read SA?
