Strange Behaviour WD10EARS

Postby shahi » 25.03.18, 17:26

The patient hsa bad head 2. used Donor, drive doesn't ID with DONOR. but PATIENT HEAD can ID in DONOR.

Patient Head works in both - DONOR N PATIENT
But DONOR head works in only DONOR, Doesn't work at PATIENT
Have you ever faced such issue?

since patient can never show ID, but patient heads are working in donor, then compatibility should be good but you must have different issues.

With donor heads in patient, and regions blocked in ROM, does spindle stay powered? Can you read SA? did you try donor PCB on patient HDA? Are you sure ROM/PCB is original on patient?

I guess you have some other issues in this case.

The Paitent HDD Ids normally, it has 1 bad head out of 4 heads. Imaged 3 good heads, then tried DONOR head and with DONOR Head the Drive doesn't ID, but the Patient Head works in DONOR. So it's not compatibility issue.

Yes, tried donor PCB on patient. Yes they are original.

shahi, try the DONOR heads back in DONOR to be sure that DONOR heads are not damaged somehow.

If you played with head adaptives and it didn't help, then the only sensible reason is that platter under unreadable head is damaged somehow.

Played with head adaptives as well, it didn't help. Ordered another donor and waiting for the DONOR
