Monolith and CPU influence

Postby Roman_TS » 17.03.16, 09:04

Hello all!

As you guys know, sometimes CPU in monolith storage device can be workable and did not allow us to get the data from NAND core. It happened when CPU for some reason, block access to NAND core and return 00 00 00 or other pattern in sectors instead the real data.

In this situation voltage control can be helpful - if we will decrease voltage to 3.2 - 2.7V (with the step of 0.05V)we would be able to turn controller off. But sometimes, controller become still workable even with low voltage. In this case we recommend to... physically destroy the cpu in monolith! :D For doing that you should have the x-ray picture of your monolith chip. Than, you should carefully scratch or drill the place where controller should be and finally - repeat attempt of dump reading. Of course it's a rare situation which can never happens, but in our practise we already get such tasks.

P.S. OFFTIPICK Here is a funny picture - I remove the compound layer from the front side of microsd, and get the crystal of NAND chip. Not sure, but looks like controller situated deeper in up side of the MicroSD :)

Roman Sir ,
I Have a Question ,Can We Visually See the Crystal In the Monoliths And also i heard there are visible fuses ,Can these fuses blow off and render device non operatable and restored .My work on Monoliths will start in the second quarter of this financial year as i am planning to update pc 3000 flash to version 4.0

Unfortunately I never get the opportunity for repairing monolith parts (like capacitors flood in compound and so on). All elements in monolith devices are extremely small, and the most comfortable and careful way - try to recover this monolith but not repair :)

Nice ,
I Would Be Looking Forward With Monoliths Once i Have My Flash Tool Updated To Ver 4.0 With Latest Software

It is not good idea destroy controller physically. It will be enough if you cut it off (traces/connection to nand).
Flash Killer - everyday new resources (pinout, XOR, ECC,config) for flash devices

Well,
Why s It Not a Good Idea To Kill Them .If They Are Killed All Connections To NAND Are Gone To Hell And Hence NAND Is Readable
