A little tip to skip the coffee break is to connect power only to the USB connector and isolate hsa - do not connect it to a pc

Pretty smart...why didn't I think of that? I guess I like coffee too much.

You can connect to a computer too, as long as you isolate the preamp so only the motor is spinning, then read ROM through terminal. Or just use boot ROM code. Always works for me.

Re: List of compatible SATA PCB for 2,5" USB drives
I would like to add that 2060-771961-001 REV A and 2060-771959-000 REV P2 are mismatch. Hole of motor is too small, and screwholes are alligned differently. Controllerwise it looks like it could match, but physically it does not fit

It works though, just not a good physical fit. You just have to put in the three screws that do line up, and it'll work. I do this all the time.

Re: List of compatible SATA PCB for 2,5" USB drives
It won't fit, really will not.. unless you take away some of the PCB material near the motor with a dremel. Maybe the drive i tried it on (WD10JMVW from 07Aug2014) is special, and has a wider motor then the ones you tried?
It's better to use a perfect fitting match like 2060-771933-000 REV P1 for 2060-771961-001 REV A boards, otherwise you will have to McGyver to make it fit.

Like I said, it works, just isn't an ideal fit. I do this about once or twice a week. Just lay it on there, put in the three screws that do line up, then go to town. It still makes contact in the right places for it to work, just isn't a snug fit and is a little bent.

Hi ,
For Fitting we need to file some part of pcb around motor and then only 3 screws are necessary

Re: List of compatible SATA PCB for 2,5" USB drives
Nope, no filing necessary. Here's a picture of that exact PCB on a case I just finished imaging on my bench:

As you can see the motor hole is too small, but you can still put in the three screws and it works perfectly fine. Trust me, I do this all the time and it works every single time. You're not seeing anything special that I haven't seen about 100 times.
