WD WD5000BMVV-11SXZS1 USB drive, reads SA but no user data

Postby narro » 25.04.12, 00:44

hi

i have a WD5000BMVV-11SXZS1 USB drive with PCB problem, i changed ROM chips and now i can read all modules at SA area without errors. I've made translator regeneration, Glist erase, Smart Erase with no problems but drive still don´t have access to user data.

DE is able to recognize the drive and its parameters like model, fw, capacity, s/n, but when i click on LBA 0 i get a black block

Do you have any idea about this drive? any experience would help.

Best Regards

Hello.

This is a Helios WD Drive.

but when i click on LBA 0 i get a black block

Well, try to querry 2nd and other sectors. It can happen there is a read bad block.

If it isn't possible to get anything from this drive, I advise you to get a donor

i changed ROM chips

Can you explain , do you have a donor drive? Maybe there is some difference between patient and donor boards. Please explain.

Waiting for your reply.
With best regards

Sounds like one or more head has error which stops translation system loading completely.

Did you try head map edit in RAM?
