thanks for the reply...

its been 5 days.
this is data recovery.
Its time sensitive.
The customer needs an answer
do you guys have a solution for this problem - yes or no ?

glist is bad
erase glist does not return an error
but glist is still corrupt.

I recently had one of these Toshibas with glist error that would not let me clear it out. It gave errors when trying to clear. The CPs were all good- so I backed them up.

I got a donor and backed up resources from donor (ROM, CPs, etc). Be careful to put donor's resources in different folder than customer's.

I moved customer's ROM to donor PCB. In Toshiba utility, I then was able to clear G-list and SMART.

I then repowered and moved customer's CPs back to customer drive (keeping the donor PCB with customer's ROM attached to customer drive).

I was then able to read all the data.

He moves ROM to donor PCB and clears GLIST there

GLIST stored in PCB not SA

Ok thanks.
In my case, my tests have killed heads...
I can see now many microscopic scratches on one surface (when I got it heads were on the platters and prevent motor from starting).

This moving of ROM refers to transfer of physical ROM chip with rework station
