it seems that i can't get an access to the SA, the PC3k utility reads:

i can read the rom, the heads doesnt knock, heads test is fine, seems like the system area is not accessible or damaged.

i would apretiate any help you can give me on this topic.

Is this PCB native PCB, or donor?

I think your drive will detect as zero capacity... with no serial number.
I got such problem before after change head. drive Got ready no knock but No ID and No S/N... if you have Donor Drive.. perform Hotswap and see if you can access SA or not.. if Not it is head allignment issued....

indeed, the only thing that the utility can detect is the drive's family. Still, it's a rather weird situation - the heads test is fine, the rom seems to be ok too, the drive doesn't knock and steel i can't get no access to the SA zone. Think that HotSwap will help?

I am not sure if HotSwap will help. Do you know the source of the problem? I have recieved several WD drives with simialr fault that have been dropped, and I believe this drop has damaged or modified the alignment.

The client claims that the disk suffered from electirc shortage, but i cannot be sure of it

Did you try to read modules by ID? I had this problems more than once, it was a firmware problem. With UDMA you can solve it.

Got the same problem except mine is L9 instead of B3

Anyone know how to solve this problem?

Can you read SA Tracks except -1?
