Hello, thank you for any help you can offer but this issue with the translator being damaged once heads are swapped is very worrying…

I’ve made a test case and in the process of trying to stop the heads writing on power up but not interfere with the normal operation of data extraction. I’ve established the 2 lines to the write heads and using different combinations of cutting tracks or shorting to ground I’ve managed to prevent writing, but the HDD isn’t happy and very unstable… terminal hangs

I shall continue my research but fear I’m missing something so and guidance would be very helpful.
