Seagate SMR identification methods

Postby osity » 19.02.24, 01:28

Obviously we can dig for model numbers on the web but are there any indicators in the system area (or elsewhere) on the drive that indicate if a Seagate is using SMR?

From drive family or look if MCMT is loaded in RAM when you load F3 utility.

Ctrl+L report should show you this information
for example
CheopsLiteM.1.0.SATA.Rosewood.Mule.Servo376.Rap30.AP1.4K + SMR
or
M15.JanusR2.SBP3.SATA.Servo376.Rap30RevA.4K + SMR Despo DFW BP3
or
EvansBP CMR BP08 SATA.NAS SV NoEWP JanusMC.R1.2.SBP3
