ST3500320SV - LED:000000CC FAddr:00259859

Hi,

I have a Seagate ST3500320SV 500GB SATA drive. Powers on, clicks 11 times then spins down to DRD & DSC. HDD ID is read correctly but capacity is 0 MB. I can get Terminal access and it shows LED:000000CC FAddr:00259859.

I've done some searching and saw some threads regarding the 000000CC error mentioning shorting the read pins, clearing smart and regenerating translator. Is that method applicable in this case? And does the in built Solution "HDD Lock (LED:000000CC)" do the same thing? Finally, when should the read pins be shorted - before power on?

Thanks in advance.

11 clicks and spin down = 99.9999% heads.

+1 for heads - also letting it click one time can damage data.
If drive is our own for testing OK play with it. If it is a data recovery case are killing someones data.
