WD5000AADS bad surface.

Postby unspoken » 22.03.19, 11:09

Hello everyone, there is a hdd that is over-energy and damaged on the platters. (serious scratches) Head swapped. The HDD become as ready. No access to sectors in DE, translator faulty. I've checked the modules that 31 and 33 are failed.( head 0 and head 1) I can read them (31 and 33) as composite .

I did the test with head 1 in a unimportant module (8041) writing was successful. in this case it is difficult to recover the translator.

it is difficult to recover the translator at this stage. Have not yet tried to write modules. I may have a chance to recover the translator if I can. I need some advice.

Read all in composite, write adaptive modules to suitable donor, hotswap to read surface for data recovery
