WD5000AAKX-60U6AA0 SA can' t be read

Postby d1d » 31.01.19, 08:10

Hi @ all,

i have a WD WD5000AAKX-60U6AA0 how i changed the Head...
So the DCM in the orig. HDD is EGRNKTJMHB in the Donor HDD is HANNHT2CHB.

Before i changed the Head the HDD spins up and after a 5 or 10 sec. it spins down. now the HDD is working but i can't read the SA or the 109 because it detects an ABR error.
Also i can't get the HDD Information or Edit it, on the PCB i can read the ROM and the Modules...

So what can i do, i need the data on the HDD because it is a HDD from our company whit all the Firmware data....

Any ideas?

Thanks a lot and best wishes

Luigi

Have you tried to load a loader and check if you have access to SA?
Does the drive continues to spin, or does it spin down?
Have you tried a headmap in RAM to only 00 or 11 to check if you can access SA?

d1d, block SA access in Work with ROM, and try to upload Dir and loader into RAM.

I can't believe anyone working in data recovery would have data that isn't backed up. I've got three copies of everything given all the bad days I've witnessed other people having from lost data. I guess some people are incapable of learning a lesson until it's their own mistake huh.

Also, you should know that TJ and T2 DCM codes don't always work for heads compatibility. So the heads might be just compatible enough to not quite work.

Did you load the loader and Dir from HDD itself, or from compatible backup?

Try to edit head map in RAM as well, do it for both head 0 and 1, maybe some head is still good.
If it doesn't work, contact me in ticket at https://ts.acelab.eu.com/
