Postby Mehboob » 19.02.19, 13:46

Hello guys. I have a question. Where i can see WD serial number if drive is not detecting? like as seagate you can check it and see on ROM to be sure that ROM is correct and not chancged by someone.
Thx a lot.

I don't believe there is a copy of the Serial number in ROM like there is in Seagate. At least not in any plain text format you can see in Hex.

Search for the WWN (in hex) to verify it's the ROM for that drive.

sorry. i know where serial number on label. i mean if hard drive is not detecting how to compare whats on label and whats in SA. for example seagate you can compare the serial number what is on label and if you opening ROM in utility and there is the have button ID and it is shows you Model and serial number and capacity. have any options for WD hard drives?

Sorry, I don't understand what you don't understand. The label shows WWN (as well as serial, but the serial is not what I was talking about). I suggested you search ROM for that WWN number (in Hex). If you find it, that ROM belongs to that drive. That is what you asked in the OP.

Here is a screenshot of the WWN in the ROM, which WWN also appears on the label of the WD drive from which the ROM was read.

You're most welcome, Brian. You've probably forgotten more about data recovery than I know. :)
