Hello.
I have a case: an old Maxtor with an ATA interface.
After power on, the HDD still has BSY status and the spindle motor does not start at all.
I suspect that this is a matter of PCB damage.
I've never had such an old Maxtor before. And here is the question, is there a chance that the disk will work after the PCB has been transferred from a compatible donor? I have not seen ROM anywhere on this PCB.
Does PC3000 support this model?

That drive is a SABRE and PC-3000 should support it. It's a regular Diamond Max 10.
Try to start the drive in safe mode and see if it's still stuck in BSY.
Also you can swap PCBs as long as you match FW version (ROM CODE MUST BE THE SAME). Maxtor drives (Native Maxtor) don't store adaptives on ROM/PCB.

I started the drive in safe mode. This time it reported DRD and the spindle motor does not start.
The firmware reports BAJ41G2Z instead of BAJ41G20, so i think that firmware is damaged.

It's normal.
Try to load from Loader now and see if you can gain acces to SA. You will need a loader for your specific model.

This is VERY OLD video (some of the first that i did saw for PC-3000 PCI many years ago) and the tool used on the video is the old PCI PC-3000 but this will provide a good idea about working with MAXTOR drives using PC-3000....

worth taking a look at it .

I put a PCB from donor but the disk still does not turn the spindle motor on
The donor with the patient's PCB starts normally.

Ok .... Either motor/spindle is stuck (not likely) or pre-amp is shorted/damaged (most likely).
Try to measure PRE-AMP for shorts.
