Explain a little more about the drive.

At power on, is it clicking?
Keeps spinning or shuts down ?
Terminal log would help a lot.

Keep spinning, no shut down. Working OK, but recognizing capacity just is wrong, only 8G

Perhaps HPA is set?
Read the ROM and go to button that says "ID" to the right. Does it show the right capacity?
Go to Tools> HDD> Set max LBA and see what it gives you when you press max.

Usually with some errors capacity is set to 3.86GB where SA cannot read and incorrect capacity loads from some ROM info - this is the same symptom but capacity reports differently (8089950 sectors = 3.86GB). Older models would show this capacity with identification of 'QNR_BFW' .

I would guess there is some error with ROM or some head is bad but is difficult to know for sure without more testing.
