No decryption key, "No key dir modules"

Postby JGAN » 29.03.18, 19:41

This drive came out of a My Book. It's definitely encrypted, but for some reason when I try to decrypt it it gives me an error "no key dir modules" (see screenshot attached).

Heads tested alright, mod 25 and 38 checked OK. I did have an issue reading mod 04 from copy 0 but copying the H1 SA regions to S0 allows me to read mod 04. Is this a possible issue with head 0?

mod 25 and 38 checked OK

Do they have an encryption signature inside?
What is the encryption chip on your bridge?

Maybe it was some bridge not supported by the PC3000 such as ASMEDIA, or could be form Oxford enclosure where no key is stored on the HDD.

Your drive came from My Book Studio, the DEK is stored on the PCB.
