Read defective sectors

Postby AdasRip » 31.08.17, 16:56

I have hdd with many defective sectors.
I can't read them from DE, but I am able to do this from the utility with the "use command read long command".
In DE there is no such read option.
So how to read such problematic sectors from the DE level?

When reading via utility, are you actually reading good data from those sectors or just garbage? Did you try "utility read" within DE?

Actually for the moment I do not know what should be in these sectors.
Are they garbage - I do not know. However, certain sector readings via utility are reproducible.

Yes, I tried to use "utility read" within DE but without success.

Are you referring to all sectors or just certain sectors? What model of drive? What was the original issue? What have you done, thus far, to "fix" it?
