Got a couple of case of these drives WD20NMVW-11C3NS2 apparently with similar problem. Was able to solder a SATA connection so now the drive gets to DRD DSC.
But as soon as i try to enter utility it gets BSY and stays there. Like ThomasH said head isolation is not working. I assume the drive has a slow responding issue, is there any other way to tackle it?

You can shorting the reading channel on the PCB when you switch on the power supply it's also get a Kernel mode as result.

Hi Filipp,

Its a pleasure to hear from you 8) . How can I find the read channel and at what stage do I short the read channel. I am also waiting for the new COM port connectors for WD. So am I screwed or can it be done?

protech, try to isolate the head contacts and run the utility in Kernel mode to get ROM access.
Then block module 02 access in Work with ROM menu (it is necessary to use v6.2), power off the drive and remove the isolation.
Start the drive in Kernel again, and go to Work with RAM->Upload Dir and loader into HDD RAM menu.
Load the Dir and loader from same ROM fw version backup folder, reenter in utility in Normal mode and you can work with SA.

Hello Everyone,
Kindly provide the read channel to short on 800022 pcb.
I have replaced USB to SATA + ROM but doesnot autodetect. Remains BSY on isolating PCB contacts.

Thank you all in advance. :)
Best Regards,

protech, try to block the access to module 02 in PC-3000 v6.2.20, and then load Dir and loader from backup to RAM. Then follow the Slow Responding and SED procedures.
