ST1000LM014 SSHD

Rather than post the same thing twice, I figured I could just link to the post on my forum where I posted about a weird, but successful SSHD recovery we are just finishing up now.

Good job,

If you do it properly you should get full access to everything running at full speeds. In reality this model takes 5 minutes to solve if you know how to do it. plenty of tips on this forum.

I too have one of these sitting on the shelf and would be grateful for any info share. The weird thing with the one that I have is that it never spins. I tried a different PCB and still no spin, maybe the motors bad but I wanted to through it out to see if yours (lcoughey) did the same thing. Thanks

Try my method and see if you have LBA access via utility.

I tried your method but the drive never comes RDY to continue. It sat for 45 minutes at BSY and remained there.

Just did a couple more cases this week and my process definitely works. The key is that you must hit CTRL-Z in terminal and it is only after you see the Request spin message will the drive eventually come ready.
