Looking for SATA PCB compatible with 2060-800038-000 Rev P1 (Redfin)

Postby 300ddr » 11.12.16, 00:11

This WD5000LMCW-11T31S1 drive has MCU 88I4748-TFJ2 and Motor Controller "REDFIN" (not "NAUTILUS"). I can't find any PCBs with this MCU. Does anyone know of a compatible SATA PCB number? Or a SATA hard drive model number that may contain a compatible PCB?
Thanks in advance!
Brian

Hello Brian ,
What Drive Is This Into .Also If You Do Not Have It Why Not Tap The SATA Lines Going Out of Main MCU To The USB Controller IC ? . This Should BE Easy :D

WD5000LMCW-11T31S1. I don't like to solder SATA cable every time we get one of these. I'd much to prefer to buy a compatible SATA PCB to use for future recoveries.

300ddr, in according to PCB view the next SATA PCBs can match: 2060-800018 or 2060-800025. Let us know if they really matched, we will add them into a compatible list :)

Neither worked :( Neither has correct MCU #: 88i4748-TFJ2.

However, soldering the Seagate terminal connector worked! But, new problem now (can't decrypt... starting new thread).

I'm just curious, what was the REV letter of the two you ordered? Were they also P1 or something different like REV A? I've seen that sometimes can make a difference.

Great Scott!!! I've found it!!! It's one they sell on HGST branded WD drives model HTS545050B7E660, or WD5000LPCX and it is board number 2060-800025-601 (on the barcode sticker).

You can see it in this expired eBay listing: http://www.cafr.ebay.ca/itm/PCB-HGST-80 ... SwXeJYHH3r

Arg! Good find! This is actually the same guy I ordered from and now just realized they have sent the wrong PCB (at least, not the exact pictured one with the correct chip number). Will touch base with them. Thanks Jared!

Jared ,
The MCU Does Match In Any Case If Rev Does Not ,But Rev makes a difference in few cases ,Can you tell me what exact cases it makes difference i mean what model numbers

I don't think I really kept track of model numbers. I think most the issues I've seen were Sadle G6 drives actually. Usually, it's just anomalies which are hard to explain. For example, I've seen where a PCB would ID and read SA just fine but couldn't get sector access. The issue turned out to be that it could read from the preamp it couldn't write to it. So the instant you try to read a sector and the drive want's to modify SMART or do other SA logging it'd go unstable. The solution turned out to be just using a different revision PCB.

Got the correct donor PCB in and it gave us full sector access! Not sure if the problem here was firmware corruption + bad PCB, or just bad PCB.
