Postby SGdata » 28.11.16, 18:17

Hi all,
Anyone has experience with this drive? Need heads donor and just thinking if there are any other models compatible with it. Prices of this model on ebay are killing me.

Try getting an MQ01ABD100 and matching all other relevant specs.

Will do, thank you. How about MQ01UBD100 but AZA AA00/AX001U date 24oct2016? Original is AZA AB00/AX101U date 31oct2015?

It might work, Toshiba's are very forgiving when it comes to matching heads. But the MQ01ABD100 is just the SATA version of the same drive. So you might find a closer one looking there.

Here's one that should be a match: http://www.ebay.com/itm/MQ01ABD100-AZA- ... SwfZhXM005

Not exactly the cheapest, but I'm sure you can find more with a bit of time.

Cheaper option that's probably just as good: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-TB-Toshiba-2- ... Swux5YNogu

Thank you very much for your help. Found also this one close to me: https://9.allegroimg.com/original/012ca ... 3dd0fe6399
Should work too if Toshibas are that compatible.

Maybe. I do usually try to match at least the AB00 part on the drive, but in a pinch, I've gotten away with other drives.

Just changed heads for those from MQ01ABD100 AAD AB00 but they are slightly clicking. Didn't swap PCB yet.

EDIT: stoped clicking, instaling drivers but nothing more.

Just FYI Toshiba stores all the adaptive data including the P-list and other critical adaptives in the PCB. So you'll always need the original ROM and CPs for it to work.

You'll probably need to also replace the PCB with the SATA one along with moving over the ROM chip. Or otherwise move over the CPs to it.

I did all with original PCB but the drive was really slow so i took ROM to G3448A PCB and now it works like a charm! Some bad sectors but the drive fell while working. It's imaging now. Thank you DataMedics for tips
