Since 6.1.12, and also with 6.1.14,
and only with HFS+ (note: NTFS still works normally):
When selecting particular important files/folders in the HFS+ DE file tree, and then right-clicking on \Root\ and choosing to create a map of the marked files, DE will select ALL files in the Root directory, and not just the ones you've marked.
The problem doesn't seem to occur if you right-click on a subfolder of the root directory. On subfolders, when making the selection to create a map, it properly builds a map of only the selected files/folders, but if you are trying to build the map from the \Root\ so that you get all the selected files/folders, again, it doesn't discern between selected files and non-selected.
I've repeated the problem with 3 cases now on 2 different pc3000's.
Everyone have this issue?
DE problem creating map of only marked files in HFS+ from Root

Re: DE problem creating map of only marked files in HFS+ from Root
I haven't seen that problem. But I will say that I normally just click the closest selected file or folder and do it from there. Laziness I suppose. I will try to do it from Root on my next HFS+ recovery.
Re: DE problem creating map of only marked files in HFS+ from Root
Also, after the marked sections are cloned, if you right click on either \root\ or in this case, any subfolder and choose to "save" - "save all marked in the task", it also seems to build a list of ALL of the data, and not just the marked data. I assume the problem is related. Again, this is with HFS+ and in this case with 6.1.12.
Isn't this the best way to snag data from an unhealthy drive? I'm surprised everyone isn't noticing this...so maybe it's just my systems for some reason?

Re: DE problem creating map of only marked files in HFS+ from Root
Yeah, I haven't had an HFS+ drive come in yet, I am definitely going to try and recreate that here to see if I get the same results. Also, a fellow engineer here pointed something out to me yesterday that I hadn't noticed. But the details slider for log output in version 6.1.12 is broken. From bottom to top it would normally output more detailed information the higher you go. But now it is buggy and doesn't follow the same output levels as previous versions did.
Another buggy situation(for as long as I can remember, and to be honest I'm surprised it hasn't been fixed yet), is that if you load a previous task with "work with copy only' selected, then if you realize you need the drive plugged up because you learned you need a few more files or sectors imaged, when you go to task settings and uncheck "work with copy only" it still doesn't allow you to power on the drive. You have to close the task and re open it. Seems counter productive to me.

Re: DE problem creating map of only marked files in HFS+ from Root
I notice the same issues today with FAT32 and a HFS drives DE 5.4.1 U
Re: DE problem creating map of only marked files in HFS+ from Root
Hmm. I haven't seen a FAT32 in a while. But NTFS and EXT are fine.
It's a pretty severe issue for HFS+, at least to how I do recoveries. If it's an internal/system drive from a Mac, it's usually not that bad, since most of the time you can select just the \Users\ folder as the 'root' folder, but for external HFS+ drives it really sucks... especially with those horrible 2-4TB Seagate DM001 drives, where selective recovery ability is very important.

Re: DE problem creating map of only marked files in HFS+ from Root
I've never seen this issue and I do a ton of HFS+ recoveries. Are you making sure that you're clicked onto the root folder and not just a single subfolder? Also, the result will be different depending on whether you select "Map of Folder" vs "Map of marked folders & files". The first one just maps everything in the highlighted folder, the latter one will select everything you've checked within the highlighted folder (but you have to highlight the root, or at least the main folder).

Ace has confirm this is a bug in DE they will fix it on the next release

Well,
I Had a HFS+ Drive That i Worked On Yesterday ,100% There is a Bug Here Jared Assuming You Have 5 Folders In a Drive You Select Folder 2 And 5 And Then You Go to root And Say "Create a Map Of Selected Marked Folders " ,This Damn Thing Will Select The Entire Drive Same Logic Will Apply to When Selecting Few Folders And Saving .Why Should We Have To Wait For Them To Fix It ,They Should Do this Right Away And Update Our Boxes With The Same ,Such a Serious Bug And No Response By Any Tech Of Ace ?

Re: DE problem creating map of only marked files in HFS+ from Root
I finally had this problem. I believe it's only a problem on UDMA-E, not PC3K Express. ThomasH: is that what you are using?
Re: DE problem creating map of only marked files in HFS+ from Root
It occurs with both the 2 and 4 port cards I have.
Re: DE problem creating map of only marked files in HFS+ from Root
Hummm... my 2 port machine is Win7 32bit. But the Expresses are on Win7 64bit. ?
Re: DE problem creating map of only marked files in HFS+ from Root
Both of mine that I've tested are Win7 64bit. Ace is aware, and will hopefully will fix it soon. I also have other glitches and lockups much more frequently, and some known good 3TB WD destination drives don't work properly with my setup anymore, yet changing to other brands work fine (though I can't be certain this is DE vs. the system setup, they worked ok before). They must have made some major changes that altered how some aspects work.
Re: DE problem creating map of only marked files in HFS+ from Root
Could be a problem with the latest version as the version 5.2.26 works fine.
