Hi,
I'm having some problems recovering data from a Kingston Datatraveler G2 8GB USB drive.
First here are the details
Drive: Kingston Datatraveler 101 G2 8GB;
Chip marking: FT64G08UCT2-53;
Chip ID: 98 DE 98 92;
Controller markiings: 6695 - K2-U6C - NSN024-100D - 1547;
Number of chips: 1;
Number of banks: 1;
PC-3000 Flash isn't able to identify the chip, nor can it read the ID. I managed to create a dump using NAND Reader from Flash Extractor, which also couldn't identify the chip correctly and suggested TC58NVG6T2HTA00 or FZBWTC58NVG6T2HTA00, both from Toshiba. I used the first one to create the dump, imported it in PC-3000 Flash and followed http://www.pc-3000flash.com/solbase/sol ... 5&lang=eng (suggested here viewtopic.php?f=235&t=8727 )to try and get some files off of it. It only managed to find an AVI file that takes up almost 8GB of space and doesn't work. I know what the files on the stick were because we copied them. We are using this as an experiment.
Are we doing something wrong? Is the chip not supported? Thank you.

Hello. This chip is fully supported. What is the version of your reader? 1.0v? 2.0v?
With best regards

Hi. My reader doesn't say anything about the version. It only says S/N 000169 underneath and has a sticker on the side with "ACE LAB 2008 2009 2010 2011" and there's a mark over 2009.

Looks like you have the oldest type of PC-3000 Flash reader, which is wrongly read MLC chips and does not read TLC chips at all. This reader was the first one in the line of PC-3000 Flash product and was released around 8 years ago. Maybe it would be a good idea to make upgrade of your old reader - new one, version 4.0 allow to make a power control of NAND supply and use different adapters for various types of NAND chips.

I understand. We'll consider upgrading to the newer model. Thank you for your support.
