Postby CleanestRoom » 15.08.15, 14:36

Hi everyone, i'm stuck and can't get to terminal on this drive:

WD My Passport Edge:

MDL: WD5000LMVW-11CKRS0
S/N: WXP1C42U1994
WWN: 50014EE25CA516DE
DCM: HBCTJHNB
R/N: 771859
Date: 06 SEP 2012

PCB Number: 2060-771859-000
PCB Sticker: 771859-000

Drive has "Slow Response" issue, is mapping slowly.

Drive also has partial head crash, large areas unavailable with rattling/squeeking noise.

In WD Marvell USB Utility, Autodetecting... Error:

"HDDs RAM reading error; unexpected error: Abort command : No Additional Sense Information"

Probably it is SED with blocked vendor commands

Figured out how to connect terminal, you need samsung adapter for this drive:

"HDDs RAM reading error; unexpected error: Abort command : No Additional Sense Information"

I can read sectors for the minor amount i am able to get.

If it is SED blocking terminal commands, is there anything i can do to get around it?

Thank you for your time.

It is SED, and over USB there is nothing you can do. You would need to convert it to a SATA interface then follow the guide posted at this forum by Maxim:
