wd500bmvw bad sectors

Postby Continuum » 17.10.12, 06:52

i Have an issue with a WD500BMVW. It will not recognize, but I can see it through the terminal. It seems that the first 10 sectors are damaged, and this is stopping access to the rest of the drive (I can see sector 10 onward in UDMA, but the data is running directly through the UDMA, so it is encrypted.)

Is there a way to fix this? I have tried the solve slow responding problem, but this did not seem to fix it.

How do I reallocate these 10 sectors?

Try to clone via SATA to a second SATA HDD, then decrypt the clone via the encryption controller, or even use USB controller from 3.5" Mybook with same encryption chip
