Data Extractor crash after update to 4.9

Postby arvika » 13.01.12, 22:13

After update program to version 4.9 DE program freeze after I try open tasks. About 50% tries ends like that. It is almost impossible work with ATA0 and ATA1. Even I try open only one port, it freeze very often.
Open task ->choose task-> click open - >freeze . After that I can't do anything with DE, can't switch to PC3K utility. Only ctrl+alt+del and "Finish process" can close the program.

Hardware is the same, nothing was change before and after update.

Do you know what is the problem?

A similar behaviour here
Mantained the same old hardware setup, only software was updated to v4.9.x

Now even read ID commands makes UDMA freeze, and the only solution is ctrl+alt+del
(Also soft resets, hardware resets, autodetection, etc)

The new functions are great, I hope that ACE developers can fix this update issues

Please tell us how many GB of RAM is installed on your workstations and what are the conditions?

Are there two tasks running simultaneously? Is there an antivirus protection software running or doing something?
Please provide more details about that.

After disconnect FDD everything is ok. But before update it is work fine when FDD was connected.
Don't have antivirus. Ram is not the problem (3GB).

have you tried to rename or move task.fdb file from task folder?
Also, can you try to make a new task and check if any problem happens with that?

I beleive there are some troubles between previous DE versions. Check and tell me please, what version were the these tasks created?

I've been having what I believe are RAM/Memory related issues since the upgrade. Sometimes, especially if I'm cloning 2 drives at full speed, the system will slow down so much the display stops working. Checking Resource Monitor I noticed the RAM was becoming all "Modified" (waiting to write) with no Available. If I pause DE task, the Modified slowly goes down. Now I just keep an eye on that all the time and if it gets close to freezing I will pause the tasks for a few minutes.

P.S. I also started using a fast esata RAID 5 using "File" when selecting Destination drive -- could this be a/the problem?

Windows 7 32bit. However, I have not had this problem lately. That may be due to the fact that I now use a virtual hard drive VHD (as outlined in another forum posting) as destination drive when imaging using DE. I'm not positive, but I believe this solved my issue regarding memory (RAM) loss.
