7200.12 Error

Postby mvg » 21.02.11, 07:03

Hi,

I am having some strange errors with his HDD (ST3100528AS) FW CC3E. Initially it was showing folders in DE and when imaging started the drive failed and upon repower, looking like translator failure. Tried translator rebuild - done but without any success. Universal utility reads sectors but intermittent "slowing down" and losing access after 60000 LBA or so. Then I tried the recover translator option in the updated version and it failed after reaching 64 chain limit of forks. I tried increasing it to 128, but said some "direction ambiguity" and "correct manually".

Creation of heads map in DE gives the error" Error execute=LBA->PCHS(T) (U) err! Tech state 0x72, 0x05260205" at the end.

Drive apparently is detected without any indication of hardware failure. No noises. By scanning MFT copy upto around 70%, I was able to see the list of folders etc, but ends up in corrupted files (of course).

Any suggestions?

Mathew

Hi,

It is not a hardware failure, but LBA > PCHS translator issue. Hence, reading backwards didn't work
