HDD resources source

Postby Continuum » 04.06.10, 09:29

Hi,

I was just wondering if it would be possible for ACELAB to set up an FTP site for registered users to upload and download HDD resources like on HDDGuru:
http://files.hddguru.com/download/PC-30 ... 20Support/

This would be invaluable to all of us and would help as we cannot seem to send PMs with the files attached if we are looking for them.

Comments?

Does anyone else know of a good source of these (without viruses)

I think Ace shoudl provide some FW to the registed users.

But they do not provide FW for a long time,

you can check your update box and see there

I notice for seagate 7200.7 they have a lot of resources but for the others family i do not see anything new.

I too think this is becoming a big problem.
We are now seeing many new models of HDD that PC3000 has NO support for.

PC3000 is an expensive product, which we pay good price for support on top of purchase,
It is disappointing to receive jobs from customers, and know that problem is a fairly straight-forward firmware problem. but cannot resolve because PC3000 does not have support.

We have been thinking of providing a membership only FTP server to share firmware database on a 1:1 ratio.
Would PC3000 owners be interested in this?
I dont know why AceLabs have not provided a service like this themselves. <anyone care to comment??>

I think this is a great idea

I'm pretty sure there is a way to export all resources as individual PCR files, maybe through option find DB updates? Dont remember exactly.

If a central server was set up all individual resources a be uploaded to catorgories such as Vendor, to make sourcing specific firmware revisions simple.
