How to use DE to Image Drive by Heads

Hi, I have a WD5000AAKS that has firmware issues, but I am able to reset the head map
in RAM to make the drive identify. Now I switch to DE and I have built a Head Map.
From reading the forums, I have determined that the next step is to "image drive by heads"
I have looked everywhere in the menus, but I do not know how to perform this step.

Help please.

(I already have a 500GB Destination drive powered and ready on IDE channel 1)

With the Head Map you have built in DE you can image by selective heads by de-selecting the heads you do not wish to image.

Example, if HDD has 8 heads (like 500GB ZEUS you have) and head 7+8 are bad, then after head map creating in DE you need to deselect 7+8. Alternatively, select only head 0 to image by head 0, then head 1, etc.

Hi, thanks for your reply. The problem is, I do not know
WHERE is this selection. I think I found it under Task Params
but I am not sure if that's it. Okay, suppose what I said is
correct, I still don't know WHERE on the Menu I click to start
Imaging. It is not obvious to me at all how to operate the menu
to get this process (of 'image drive by heads') going.

In your DE task at the right of the window there is a shortcut button for 'Heads Map', here you will find option to build head map, and then to view all heads and select or de-select specific ones.

Alternativelty, once heads map is built you can select / de-select heads to use from last tab of the Settings dialoue box.

The DE Manual you have should cover this.

Okay I found out how to select/deselect heads for imaging (from the Menu on the Right)

Now, PLEASE tell me the next step - actually START the copying process.

Okay, I figured it out finally, and this is NOT in the manual.
There's a 'Map' tab at the bottom of the screen that I did
not see before, and clicking it is the only way to get back
to the Copy window that dissappeared after building the
head map. So, thanks all and especially, Chris
