Wish list for PC-3000 for Windows UDMA

Hi everyone!

You have made good similar threads for Data Extractor and PC-3000 Flash and our developers found it very useful. Feedback is always useful for us!

So, we decided to make such thread for PC-3000 UDMA. Please write down what features do you wish to be added or changed in this product? What do you like/dislike?

Hi,

I would like to see that when we add modules to a database, there is a check if this drive has been stored allready or not.
Also an easy way to import modules and rom that has been stored on harddisk rather than in the database.

Support for the latest Hitachi drives would also be wellcome.

agree with Dobre.

But i have some more wishes.
This is the first one:
I wolud like to see in Maxtor util one "headmap change only in DISK module" function.

I do get annoyed when I have to go to the "Universal" utility when the currently opened utility has grayed out SMART and SECURITY functions

HTC4260 Native Hitachi utility as an example has SMART and security disabled but works well in Universal


Also... I would like to be able to add my own description to FW modules in each Generation of drive supported by PC3k.... Or maybe ADD NOTE...

The calculator in ATA commander is useless.... no SUM function for whole module...No XOR ermmm not very good really... Needs more POWER!

I am not sure, it is a way, but it would be good to have functions in maxtor utility to initialize the translator parts one by one, like MFTI, DISK, SRV, and RCT modules.
Like autorecovery does it automatically.

It would be nice also to be able to change reading parameters when scanning sectors in for example the fat partion map.
When i do a scan of the FAT1, and the result is not like i want, i have stop the process, leave the window, change the parameters, and start again.
Something like in the general map with the "continue, repeat" options would be great.

Also an option to skip sectors that have been read without ECC control, or that are marked black.
Sometimes i've got a dying harddisk, that has lots of bad sectors. I have to stop the imaging because of a change of parameters.
When i want to restart the imaging, the utility scans all black sectors again, just when the disk has not much time left because of dying heads !

You can configure wich sectors do you want to read again, and wich not!

NC, "skip sectors on reading errors" is not working for the 'black' sectors, only for the 'red' ones.
I would like the 'black' ones to be added to this too.

yes, you are right.
I have tested only on dark green (UNC) and red (readiness) blocks.
By the way, the util don't have a good definition for black blocks....

BTW this is the UDMA topic, not the DE.
