.MTS file header

Postby Lux » 21.08.09, 13:34

Hi to all.
I would like to perform a GREP/Raw search in order to recover .MTS files (High Definition VIDEO stream).
The problem is that this kind of file is not included in my database; I don't know file structure and cannot find nothing useful on internet (header string to be precise).
Does anyone knows the right string to add a new file type in Grep search module?
Thank you very much!

You can check it from A working sample MTS file

Hi

I have a couple of .mts files from our company Sony HD cam

Header is:

474000100000B0110000C100000000E01F0001E100235AAB82FFFFFF
@offset 4 (not 0)

But if I remember right, using raw recovery with .mts files will bring broken results because the header repeats itself through the file
If you have such a problem, e-mail me, I might have saved my custom search solution when i faced this problem before
I was able to recover all the files from a formatted hdd
Btw, vlc and super are good softwares for testing .mts files

Good luck

HI BR!
Thank you very much for your help!
Yes I noticed that header in .mts files is repeated.
I can confirm you that vlc is a very good reader for both .mts and .m2ts files.
Please, where can I write to you and obtain your help? In your profile I cannot find an email addreess.
If you prefer, you can contact me at
lucio.ciccarelli@search-tec.it
Thank you again!
