Re: Problem with SP0802N
Hi,
I suppose that heads are clicking when you power on the drive.
But after they knock a few times, doesn't the drive go into ready state?

Re: Problem with SP0802N
Thanks DataLabAce for quick answer.
No, after they knock a few times, this drive doesn't into ready state (self). Just stop motor and still busy. However, when I run the utility with parameters "soft reset" disk run ready state (DRD & DCS). The motor stil not work, but the first detect is almost corect (corectly show model, FW and capacity - without sn.). After start further utylity hdd show (motor even durning try read SA still off):
Thanks for further idea..

Re: Problem with SP0802N
Maybe you have damage to ALIST? this can sometimes cause knocking and sropping of spindle. Perform hot swap and check SA, I think ALIST modules may be defective
Re: Problem with SP0802N
I have written already, that i I tested try hot swap after head exchange. I have good copy SA (have older backup SA from this disk, when disk was OK), and i'm sure, that have made hot swap corectly - rewrite on donor folow modules (from older backup SA):
"06 CONFIG"
"10 SLISTHDR"
"11 SLIST"
"12 TLIST"
"13 ALIST"
"5D CONFIG2"
Please, continue soultion, mayby any new ideas...
Thx, IGEN

Re: Problem with SP0802N
What happened after hot swap? The disk stop spindle again?
Try to add "62 ALISTHDR" to donor before hot swap

Re: Problem with SP0802N
After hotswap done, motor start and click, click, click..... many, many times...
62 ALISTHDR is not present in original list SA (from this disk, in my old copy)
thx

Re: Problem with SP0802N
In your case I would try to perform head swap another time using a different donor, offcourse matching P/V=?X
If it does not work, then I would consider this hdd unrecoverable
I believe you mean that after head swap procediment heads are knocking 8 times than stop spindle motor
If that is right, there is a good chance of head or pre-amp incompatibility

Re: Problem with SP0802N
Hi,
This is alignment related problem. Either use another donor, or work around the head alignment issue.
With samsungs only these 2 head models have alignment issues, bigger ones work well with donor MHAs, never experienced such problem.
