Hi to all,

Have this disk that dive this error in udma, when i gove power gets BSY them give error.

i try hotswap with a similiar drive, and i can test heads OK.

If i connect just the PCB also the same error.

Does disk reach DRD and DSC with donor PCB?

Hi AJ2008,

yes with other PCB the drive get DRD DSC.

it's not 100% compatible because the model is the same wd1600aajs-xxxxxx ( this are different)

i try a hotswap, and i can test heads 100% ok.

So i think the problem is in the PCB, but i can not find it anyhere the disk also is from 17 JUN 2008.

Have you used a multimeter to test the readings of components at top right of PCB?

Also what is full model of WD drive?

no not yet, can you show-me wich component shoul i read from multimiter.

I believe that is a Marvel WD from pinnacle family. I am not sure if this is ROYL, if it is then you can perform ROM restoration via PC3K.

If you have working donor PCB, use your multimeter to test components on both PCBs and verify differences in reading.

Hi to all,

Afther all is not PCB problem, i try other ROM from Sa from other model and the error in the ATA register is gone, i can have the drive ready, but dont have the ID.


need FW for this disk :

WD1600AAJS-00B4A0
MALAYSIA

I try to Make a ROM recovery

Happen this :

Then came back to the beggining:

Now the drive when i connect it it give always ATA Erros: ERR ABR

Can not run the utility.

Put the disk in Kernel Mode, and make a ROM Restoration

Them give a error.

When i power off power on the disk get DRD DSC and i can run it again with the utility but i can not have any ID.

What should i do next ?
