ST9160821AS - Error Detection of HDD COM port baud rate

Postby gcgm » 15.01.09, 03:16

Currently working on the above locked drive. The PC3KUDMA detected the drive correctly but the strange thing is that it could not properly detect the working baud rate. After running the utility, the log showed:

ATTENTION! Security-locked HDD.

Selected family......................... : Momentus (Venus)
Selected model.......................... : ST9160821AS
Model by ID............................. : ST9160821AS
Detection of HDD COM port baud rate..... : Error
Terminal : reply timeout error

Then when I tried to change the baud rate via:
Test>>Working via terminal>>Set COM port data transfer rate>>115200

Error message below:
Error switching COM port baud rate
Terminal : reply timeout error

Then
Test>>Working via terminal>>Set COM port data transfer rate>>Detect HDD transfer rate

Error message below:
Terminal : error detecting HDD terminal baud rate

Then
Test>>Working via terminal>>Set COM port data transfer rate>>Set PC COM port data transfer rate

Error message below:
PC COM port baud rate set to 115200
Terminal : reply timeout error

Has anyone encountered this problem before and know how to resolve this? Thanks for our inputs. I attach the screen shot below:

Dear gcgm,

It can be cuased by wrong connection of USB Terminal.
So you need to check COM port settings in device manager and in our utility, becuase they should match. More information about Terminal connecting and Security-locked HDDs you can find at manual.

Regards.

Dear Igor,

I connected the usb terminal as suggested and the PC3KUDMA read the drive fine and well. Unlocking of drive was successful.

Thanks very much!
