Hi Folks,
Hope all is well your side of the world
I need your assistance in a case i've got - please see images:

Drive was inside an XP machine and stopped working, it clicked when i got it.
I tried hot swap with an exact donor drive to try and read the FW but during re-calibration the donor PCB also clicked on the patient drive so i assumed heads are bad.
I opened the drive in a clean room and haven't seen any obvious damage to platters or heads.
I swapped the heads from the donor drive but the behavior stayed the same, still clicks.
Any ideas or can you assist here?
Please advise,

Re: WD 80GB unknown issue
i did swapped them back and aligned the screws and it woks good on donor but not on patient.
Probably micro scratches on the platters.

Probably your drive is pre-Royl and has some level of complications regarding alignment?
