Hi,
We have a 750GB Seagate Momentus 2.5" hard drive that clicks when powered.
When the complete drive is first powered on, the BSY registers lights up. After hearing three clicks from the heads, the registers change to DRD DSC. When I try to "Reread HDD ID", the BSY DRD DSC lights up, and no model, serial or firmware is detected. The BSY DRD DSC registers remain lit forever
When in terminal and powered on, terminal records the following output.
EarlySpinup Enabled
Rst 0x10M
ExecuteSpinRequest
LED:00000067 FAddr:00380338
LED:00000067 FAddr:00380338
LED:00000067 FAddr:00380338
If I'm quick I can get a brief terminal prompt:
EarlySpinup Enabled
Rst 0x10M
ASCII Diag mode
F3 T>
Input_Command_Error
F3 T>
ExecuteSpinRequest
LED:00000067 FAddr:00380338

Heads seem bad - you should confirm this is the case then replace them.
Re: Clicking Seagate Momentus 750GB
I've mapped out the system heads in ROM using Physical remap (logical is not supported on this firmware). Also I've set the "Max heads" in "SAP control flags" to "0".
My problem is I can't get passed the checksum error that results from the head remap.

You ROM is damaged, you need to revert back to the original ROM you saved then try it again
