I think what Luke's suggesting is that the key sector near the end might not have been read properly. I've had at least one case where that sector was bad.

goooz, try to solve the Slow Responding, then connect the original USB PCB. If it also requires the password, it's the bug of INIC1607E and it can not be solved.
Such bug puts some LBA from user area to key module.
