Hello,

We recently buy a donor for a ST1000LM035 1RK172-568. Exactly same numbers on the label: same PN, same firmware. The hard drive was very different from the customer's drive. One more platter, head map 1,2,3 (customer: 0,1) and... a toe integrated in the chassis, preventing the releasing of the heads arm.



And... Some screws are not Torx (see the topic viewtopic.php?f=154&t=9346).

We keep thinking about a good way to do a head swap with these drives. Do you have any tips?

Simple - you do not swap the heads - you swap the platters
