FBLite 2.5" Module ID 20B FM ERR CHECKSUM

Postby RDDmx » 29.03.19, 01:10

Hi to all,

I have WD WD10JPCX (fblITE 2.5"). The disk sounds normal (no clics, no grinding, no stops), PC3k with the terminal (nirmal mode) shows the following message:

Techno mode key
Techno mode key......................... : Ok

RAM:
HDD Info reading........................ : Ok
Heads number............................ : 4
Cyl Count............................... : 256

Zone allocation table................... : HDDs RAM reading error Device Error Detected: "VSCE PERM OVL NOT LOADED. LDR Upload is recomended"

ROM:
Read ROM................................ : Ok
ROM Data size........................... : 256 Kb
Read ROM................................ : Module ID 20B reading error Data request error Device Error Detected: "FM ERR CHECKSUM"

Service area:
SA dir reading (ID)..................... : Drive is not ready
SA SPT Detect........................... : FAIL
SA dir reading (ABA/CHS)................ : Dir reading error ABA 0(1) reading error Device Error Detected: "VSC ERR UNSUP ACTION CODE"
SA Access............................... : Copy 0,Copy 1

Configuration reading................... : Module ID 02 reading error Data request error Device Error Detected: "Unknown error code: 3746"

Can anybody point me in the right direction? I think I can get the modules from another source but what bothers me is the "Unknown error code: 3746" and I don't know the correct order of the operations I need to do.

Thank you in advance. Please be kind :D

SA SPT Detect........................... : FAIL may be if heads can't see platters.
Also, FBLite drives can spin even if heads are bad.

In my opinion, it's head issue. But I also would like to see what another forum members would say :)

This is a pretty comprehensive article on how to handle most WD Marvell drives. Just be aware that if the heads are failed, you might be causing damage to the platters, so best take a look under the hood first.
