Problem trying to save Seagate ROM

Postby labtech » 29.04.10, 20:01

Recently I have noticed that when I try to do anything that requires the utility to power off and back on in Safe Mode it fails and the ATA registers show strange lights. This happens when trying to save ROM, when trying to create a LDR, when trying to start safe mode using the button, but not if starting safe mode from the model selection screen.

In any case I am not able to save the ROM because the utility always tries to repower itself even if it is already in safe mode.

It seems that the problem may be related to terminal.
Is terminal working fine?

I have had similar problem in cases where PCB was damaged. Maybe you need to change PCB and transfer ROM through desoldering, if PCB replacement is your goal.

This occurs in drives which work perfectly well otherwise. It seems to be in specific families/models. I will try to keep a list of when it occurs to see if there is a common thread.
