WD head alignment solution

Postby -BR- » 21.05.09, 07:58

Hi Acelab support and everyone

I'd like to ask if there's any software method to avoid WD head alignment problems after head swap procediment?
Can any adaptive rom/module solve this issue?
Surelly manually holding alignment while recovering 160Gb of data is not the best practice :P

Thanks

Maybe there is adaptive information relative to the head alignment that can be modified in RAM to reflect new alignment properties following head replacement?

I agree, manually holding the alignment is not the best practise! with new ROYL drives, it seems alignment can be modified by changing the depth, and tightness of the HDA screw and the 3 surrounding screws. In some cases, completely removing the HDA screw and modifying the remaining surrounding screws is enough.

This is still work in progress for me, no solid perfect solution guaranteed to work yet...

Would be great to hear other peoples opinions or success here.

What are the differences between head offset alignment and microjog alignment? can both be adjusted?

Maybe creating average value of JOG from both donor ROM and patient ROM would give good module 47 that can be written to patient PCB following head replacement? Anybody tried this or similar procedure?

Is this a solution you will sell, or simply an option for outsourcing work?

I can buy the hardware solution :)

How much you you sell.

is for 0.01 micron or 0.02 microns ?

Mine works in 0.1 micron (100 nanometer) precisely, the 0.01 is too small, and not needed yet.

But not for sale, only for outsourcing. :)

Yes of course, Pepe has it too, but different from mine. :D

Maybe Pepe showed you this solution as he did with Quaxtors also?

Would be interesting to know the solution you have, but I think there are many alternative methods and solutions being discovered. i also think that in many cases there are alternatives to physical change of heads when appear damaged, and in some cases diagnosis is not as simple as it may first appear.

I had my own theory and had no idea to solve the problem, and while talking with Pepe, he supports my theory with some of his words, but not helped to find the solution, and he not showed to me his solution.
After i have found my own way, we have talked about a lot, and now i can cleary see, the 2 solution is completely different.
