Hi. I got this SSD from Apple device. There was a little bit liquid on it. i cleaned everything under the microscope.

i plugged it in the apple adapter and the adapter in the portable iii. got DE SSD extended

by power on i get 0,47A and green DRD DSC PHY, no red light appears

the same values i got with the same but healthy ssd

choosing universal utility and universal ssd ssd utility (SATA) it goes during initialysation in BSY, no red lights (DRD DSC and PHY green, utility can not initialize, after the warning box running utility I press yes and of course no ID can be read

Power 5V all time is 0,47A (with the healthy SSD the utility is initializing and 5V Power switches down to 0,17A)

I thought the safe mode could help here, but dont know where to short on the SSD mainboard?

Hello.

SAFE MODE is simply block access to NAND memory chips, and allows you to work with CPU and RAM. Usually it helps with loader uploading and drive initialization in Techno Mode. But of course, current method is working only if SSD fully supported by PC-3000 software.

Current drive is based on Samsung PCIe technology and doesn't have Utility.

Anyway, you can try the following trick:

1. Make a new task in DE without passport ID reading;
2. Type LBA number manually (aproximate number would be enough: 256gb x 1024 x 1024 x 2 = 536,870,912 LBA);
3. Try to power ON the drive and read sectors. Sometimes it helps to force the reading process. Also, try to influence on this SSD with temperature. Heating or freezing may help.

I tryed your sugestions. But nothing helped, not the "manual" way, no heat no freeze.

By manual try all drive is ready but after clicking on any sector it comes BSY and stay there forever, tryed this method with the good ssd is reading the sectors


I have the same modell of ssd that is working good. is it worth to replace the nands in the same order from the patient to the donor? can this help?

In your case the main problem is inside the internal firmware. Translator is damaged, as the result, drive goes into BSY as soon as you are trying to read anything from it.

NAND swap will not help here. Problem is inside NAND, not in CPU or PCB...

Yes, that's right. We need support in PC-3000 utility to work with the drive firmware.

Hi There! I have exacth the same case today! , follow Roman instructions, and handle to recover partially this drive, afer freeze the drive to -60 celcius, but time to time it stop reading and nee to repower. Handle to recover some important data, but after like 1000 repower the drive stop reading... Good luck to everyone!! Best Regards.
