Apple AHCI SSD (Samsung branded MZ-JPV5120/0A3)

Hi All,

I have an AHCI SSD taken from an Apple Macbook, I have connected to PC-3000 Portable using the correct apple adapter, when utility starts all lights are on at the bottom (apart from BSY). No drive information can be read.

The controller is a Samsung S4LN058A01 which does not appear in the supported SSD controller list anyway.

I have the same drive (personal one) which I have connected and it becomes DRD + DSC ready in PC-3000. What could issue be with the other one, will there be any support for this controller?

Hello. Looks like your drive has a hardware issue. In case of firmware corruption, it should go into the BSY state, but if all LED Registers are lights on then it's a serious hardware problem. Need to research the PCB and find out, where the problem might be.

Thanks Roman,

The laptop casing is signifciantly damaged, so hardware problem may be correct. I've looked at the PCB under microscope/x-ray and there does seem to be a small hairline crack, but not near any components. Is it possible to transplant nand chips onto another working ssd (same model) and get user data access, would other components also need to be transferred over?
