Hi,

I have a samsung HD501LJ/D drive here.

Drive spins up and becomes ready. Try to Drive ID, nogo. Gets stuck in BSY after requesting ID.

To get around this, i performed RAM headmap, and with head 4 turned off, I got ID.

Now drive is imaging on all heads except H4, but it is VERY SLOW. it's like the heads keep jumping back to another area each time DE reads a block of sectors.

Terminal is getting spammed with:

WvSkRty:C=000075C4
WvSkRty:C=000075C4
WvSkRty:C=000075C4
WvSkRty:C=000075C4
WvSkRty:C=000075C4
WvSkRty:C=000075C4
WvSkRty:C=000075C4
WvSkRty:C=000075C4
WvSkRty:C=000075C4
WvSkRty:C=000075C4
WvSkRty:C=000075C4
WvSkRty:C=000075C4
WvSkRty:C=000075C4
WvSkRty:C=000075C4
WvSkRty:C=000075C4
WvSkRty:C=000075C4
WvSkRty:C=000075C4
WvSkRty:C=000075C4

Any ideas ?

Try to image with backward direction. Also try to use different modes of reading.

Sorry didnt check that you replied. I just let the drive image for a week and got 100% from those heads... except head 4 that i had to disable in ram to get access to drive. I guess my only question remains is that head really bad ? I'm not a pro at Samsung FW structure/architecture, it cant be that there is a module on that head that is corrupt or something and thats why drive wont id with that head on ?
