SAMSUNG HD501LJ

Hi to all,

Have this drive that in udma it start with no ID.
I enter the utility and make a soft Reset, and get DRD DSC, get out off Samsung utility and them enter again in the utility and can read the model off the disk.

When enter in the utility i can have the Model,FW, and size., but could not get the serial number.

First thing you need a Same model/capacity donor drive for that case.

First thing, try to use donor's pcb on patient drive and check the terminal output.
If the terminal output will change then show it to us.

If not - then the problem is related to heads stack. Try to swap heads from donor drive.

Then about error messages:

Same issue here with the same drive

tried hotswap with as donor an identical drive, same year manufacturing (ok, maybe different firmware version),

after that the board has been fit, I've issued the recalibration command, to make it spin up again.

The drive spins up and it reads and repeats reads , in the mean time, on the terminal the output is

That means heads are not reading anything.

Finally I had the chance to get a working hotswap and it worked.

In my case LED B5 (please note B5 and not 5B) and tout-tout

were due to non matching modules.
