encrypted between the USB and the drive

We have had several drives here that are encrypted between the USB connector and the drive itself (3.5" drives). The only way to recover data is through attaching the drive to the usb and hoping that it starts that way. Otherwise, we have to repair the drive and then attach to the USB.

Is there a way to recover from these connecting them directly to the PC3000?

Convert to SATA, or find compatible SATA equivalent PCB, clone it via PC3000 to image HDD then decrypt through 3.5" Mybook enclosure with same encryption chio (Initio, Symwave etc)
