WDC WD20EARS-00MVWB0 with Bad Mods 36 & 40...

Hello Ace,
When I first got this WDC WD20EARS-00MVWB0 drive in,the problem was "staying busy." Same problem with donor PCB+rom swap. Hot swapped with donor drive and all heads tested ok. Saved modules and tracks.
Checked modules in Modules Directory and SA Structure Test. Drive has LOTS of bad modules (basically all Header errors). Fixed all bad modules (except 36 & 40) after "finding" them using Module Search in SA (and writing from donor of same firmware/model for the few that couldn't be found). Repower and the drive now IDs correctly (but no LBA access).
36 & 40 still had bad headers and could not be "found" using SA search. I've tried writing a few different donor 36 & 40 modules (which check out ok in Modules Directory and after power off/on drive still IDs correctly) and regenerating translator, but the regeneration only takes around 1 minute and the LBA indicator never changes from 0 (the status lights do flicker). I've also tried this approach on a donor drive with patient tracks with same exact results.
It seems to me like the translator regeneration isn't working right, but I'm sure you have a better explanation. Any help appreciated!
