WD 160gb now 8gb

I have WD Caviar SE (WD1600JS-75NCB1) it has no power and i found out burn spindle motor chip, I already solder and put new chip but apparently still no power, after further investigation i found out a short circuit chip Marvell 88i6545-TFJ1 which is also been replaced and the power finally on, my problem now is its always has knocking sounds upon detection. Do you think the new chip is the cause of this problem or its head? It has four heads (0,1,4,5), I try to disabled its heads but same knocking sounds. And when i checked it under kernel its size decrease from 160gb to 8gb..why it decreased its size?
