WD3200JS-22PDB0 ROM gone

Postby ft1bh » 26.03.09, 14:08

Hi all,

I have a WD3200JS-22PDB0 (Raider I think, correct me if I'm wrong, 2060-701393-002 REV B is the PCB inprint) where most parts of the PCB are burnt including the ROM (at least it's unreadable) as well as bad heads (preamp).
I managed to swap heads and use a PCB from a donor drive. Now the drive is shown as ready but is not recognized (no Model, SN, FW or LBA) . I have full access to SA though. All modules are fine. The heads are not clicking.
Is there any way I can get a matching ROM (I believe this to be the culprit now)?
When I have a look at the donor modules most have a "400S?" in the first line, the FW is a 21.00.M21.
In most fo the patient's modules there is a "2119?" in the first line. Is this some kind of FW indicator?

I have tried several ROMs and so far the drive is getting "ready" (as in not clicking) with only 2 ROMs.
There is a new feature called ROM resatauration but I think this does not work with the Raider family.
Any help/ideas would be appreciated.

TIA,
ft1bh

Hi ft1bh

I have resources for WDC WD3000JS-60PDB0 21.00M21, checked modules and most of them start with 2119. I could send you the ROM image if it would be of any help for you (remember to edit head map)

Pawel.

Hello Pawel,

sorry for the delay, somehow my provider thought these notifications were spam.
Yes I would really like to get the ROM, maybe this is the key to solving the problem.
Can you send me the ROM to ft1bh at yahoo.de ?

Thank you very much in advance!

If SA is accessible and modules can be saved, you can select the option 'ROM rebuild from SA data' and point to your saved modules and the utiltiy should be able to generate a copy of the ROM from info in specific modules

AJ,
I can't seem to find that option when I select the Raider family.
I have seen this under Tornado and some others so far but not Raider.
Am I missing something?

Boe
