Hi All friends,
Anyone know what requirements need to match for WD drive 's heads swapping ?It seems like the result is not good if just matching the model.

Any advices appreiated

You should try at least to match model and DCM number as close as possible.

DCM still a myth for me...
the most important is matcching the same Head mask...

The problems are alignment over WD

I agree. As long as model and head map is same, this is what I tend to go for.

I do try matching DCM on drives pre Marvel, but as far as Marvel family goes, I also think DCM is a myth

Then try for example JH or JJ series with unmatched 5 and 6 letter in DCM

for me.. if they are same family and same head mask.. I will try to change it,. WHY ??? because If nothing DO we will never know... if we try we will know....

Hi to all,

If we just change the head in a WD and dont change the PCB, we dont need to worry about the head mask.

It is in the ROM, and if we dont change the PCB that problem not appear.

The problem that i am having is sometimes the HEAD did not read the surface, dont know why maybe pre amp differents...

Please let me know if i am thinking BAD ?
